I still remember the WhatsApp message that woke me up at 7 AM: “Bhai, JKSSB ne notification diya hai, jaldi dekh.” Half asleep, I scrambled to open jkssb.nic.in — only to find it crashing under traffic. That panic, that rush, that feeling of not knowing what the notification actually says while everyone else is already talking about it? That’s why I write these breakdowns. So you don’t have to decode official PDFs while your brain is still loading.
So, JKSSB has officially released Advertisement Notification No. 04 of 2026, dated 25th May 2026. A total of 130 posts are on the table across six departments. Let me walk you through what matters.
The big picture — what departments and how many seats?
This isn’t one of those mega-recruitment drives with thousands of posts. It’s a targeted batch covering skilled and semi-skilled roles across both Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Here’s the split:
| Department | Posts | Notable Roles |
|---|---|---|
| Agriculture Production | 17 | Boiler Mechanic, Sr. Horticulture Technician, Electrician, Incubator Mechanic |
| ARI & Trainings | 42 | Machineman, Binder, Press Mechanic, Copy Holder, Lathe Runner |
| Industries & Commerce | 34 | Head Weaver, Dyeing Master, Loan Inspector, Assistant Extension Officer |
| Higher Education | 15 | Computer Assistant, Library Assistant, Mistry, Plumber-II |
| Home Department | 21 | Lab Assistant (FSL), Electrician Gr-II, Tailor, Plumber |
| Law & Parliamentary Affairs | 1 | Library Assistant (UT Cadre) |
The ARI & Training chunk (42 posts, mostly for Govt. Press in Jammu and Srinagar) is the biggest slice — if you have a printing/ITI background, this is your moment.
Dates — stick these on your wall right now
- Online forms open: 22 June 2026
- Last date to apply: 21 July 2026
You have about a month from when applications open. Sounds like plenty, but trust me — don’t sit on it. JKSSB portals get hammered in the last 2-3 days. Apply in the first week if you can.
Who can apply? Age and eligibility basics
The age is calculated as of 1st January 2026. For general (OM) candidates, the upper limit is 40 years. Most reserved categories (SC, ST, RBA, OBC, EWS, ALC/IB) get a relaxation up to 43 years. Ex-Servicemen can go up to 48. PwBD candidates get relief up to 42.
One thing people often miss: The “not born after” date is 1 January 2008 for all categories. So if you’re born after that date, you’re too young — period.
